Cruisin Classics is pleased to present for your consideration this 1965 Mercury Monterey Convertible. There were less than 4,800 convertible models made in 1965 and this example is showing only 45,720 actual miles – making it quite a find! This Mercury is dressed in bright red driver quality paint accented by a newer white convertible top, a great color combination. Adding to the look is good quality chrome and brightwork with gleaming bumpers, headlight bezels, front fender accents, door edge gaurds, rocker panel covers, and badging. The car rests upon steel wheels with Mercury wire spoke hubcaps with faux knock-off's wrapped in Goodyear Polysteel Radial white-wall tires that accent the white top. Under the hood in the stock looking engine bay is what we believe to be the original 390ci “Super Marauder” V-8 4V motor. Topping off the engine are orange Mercury valve covers and an orange air cleaner with “390”decal. The engine is mated to a 3-speed automatic “Merc-O-Matic” transmission. Brakes are power with drums on all four corners. Open the driver's door to find a beautiful white interior with chrome-trimmed vinyl bucket front seats and a bench in the rear. The seats are comfortable and tear-free and the same white color continues on the door panels, kick panels, sun-visors, and rear side panels – which are all in good condition as well. In the center of the rear seat back is a speaker cover with cool Mercury logo. The black dash is crack-free and has clear working gauges, an AM factory radio, and a Mercury-head emblem. The drivers door has an interior control for the side mirror. The original 2-spoke steering wheel is present, in good condition, and is backed up by power steering. The courtesy and glovebox lights, like all of the car's lights, work just as they should. This Mercury has working heat and wipers, though the wipers only work on high. Carpeting is brownish-black and is covered in both the front and back by double-wide floor mats with center tunnel cover. The power convertible top operates flawlessly and has a very nice and clear rear window. Around back in the spacious trunk (with working light) you'll find a white boot cover for the top, a car cover, a full-size bias-ply spare with original jack, extra Mercury floormats, and 4 OEM hubcaps (different style than the ones on the car). This Mercury is a perfect car for anyone looking for some top-down, old-school cruisin fun and it's sure to get thumbs up everywhere you go in it!
