Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this stunning 1954 Chevrolet 3100 half ton stepside truck! 1954 was an important year for the Chevrolet Advance Design Series trucks as it was the only year for significant design changes and those changes only lasted until 1956 when the Task Force Series was released. The most significant changes made in 54 were a single piece curved windshield, horizontal (not angled) cargo bedrails, a revised dash, and a crossbar grill design that became known as a “bullnose grill” (as opposed to the earlier grill with 5 horizontal slats). Most of the grills in '54 were painted, as the chrome version was an expensive option. This particular 3100 features a beautiful, gleaming chrome grill and front bumper that are bound to catch everyone's eye. The eye candy sure doesn't stop there though with this professionally customized truck. The deep blue paint is impressive, with very few small imperfections to be found. Whoever did the metal-work during the restoration did a simply amazing job with unique custom touches everywhere you look. The center seam of the hood and the hood ornament have been removed to accentuate the shape of the curved hood. The 3100 emblem has been removed from the sides of the hood and the slotted vents on the passenger side ahead of the door have been removed and that section is now smooth. The side view mirrors have been moved onto the doors and replaced by more modern ones that are painted body-color. The headlights have been frenched and replaced by modern lamps. The running boards no longer have ridges and are now smooth. The tail-lights are from a 59 Cadillac and have been frenched into the rear fenders. The front end of the cargo bed has been curved to match the rounded form of the cab, providing a far better look than original. The interior walls of the cargo bed have been completely smoothed on both sides and the front. The tailgate has been modified and now slants inward at the top, making for a less boxy look. The tailgate still features a body-color Chevrolet logo on the back, but the latches have been changed to two discreet slide-locks located at the top of the inside of the gate. The bed floor is impressive, with beautiful highly figured medium brown wood with a glossy finish separated by “screwless” chrome rails. The gas tank has been relocated to the rear of the bed and a pop-up gas fill cap can now be found on the drivers rear of the bed floor. The rear bumper gleams as brightly as the one in front and features a clipped down center section at the license plate. Beneath the bumper you'll find a set of 3A Racing chrome exhaust tips. The chrome door handles and side window trim provide a nice accent to the blue body. The body gaps are tight and even all around the truck. This 3100 sits atop a set of eye-catching Foose wheels wrapped in newer Hancook Ventus V4ES tires. When you lift the hood you'll see right away that the engine bay was given the same attention as the exterior. The engine compartment has been painted body-color, the firewall is completely smooth, and chrome abounds. The engine is a 1973 GM crate 350ci V-8 topped with an aluminum intake, Edelbrock carburetor, and Spectre air cleaner. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan and chrome overflow keeps things cool. There are many chrome pieces including Chevrolet logo valve covers, brake booster and reservoir, alternator, pulleys, and radiator hoses. While under the hood you'll also notice an aftermarket A/C system, power steering, Pertronix ignition, and headers. The V-8 is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the pavement via a 10 bolt rear axle. The undercarriage of this truck is just like the rest of it - impressive! It is clean and rust-free with all details attended to. The gas tank and the exhaust system both look almost brand new. There are also quite a few newer suspension components as well. When you open the drivers door the excitement continues with a very well done two-tone brown interior. The bench seat is wrapped in two-tone brown vinyl upholstery that matches the custom door panels. The cab walls, ceiling, and A-pillars are covered in brown vinyl upholstery to match the rest. The window frames and lower seat side-panels have been air-brushed to simulate the same wood grain as the steering wheel and they look fantastic. The floor is covered in newer medium-brown carpet. Rising from the center of the floor are a Lokar shifter and the E-brake handle, both featuring gold floorplates and brown vinyl boot covers. Just behind the shifter under the base of the bench seat is a battery cut-off switch. The driver is treated to a 3-spoke wood steering wheel, tilt column, and power window controls. The dash is painted body-color and houses some very nice aftermarket gauges. The left one has a tachometer, oil pressure, and temperature gauges while the one to the right has the speedometer, volt meter, gas gauge, and turn indicators. Also housed in the dash is a working retro-style AM radio that plays through speakers located in the 2 back corners of the cab. Mounted under the dash are the controls for the HVAC system as well as 3 vents that blow the ice-cold A/C and hot heat. Other interior features include 2-speed wipers, a working cab light above the rear window, and a fire extinguisher mounted to the passenger side-wall. Also located in the cab is a last special treat - the original title and the operating manual for the truck in a nice wood frame. These 54-55 3100's are highly sought after and it's not every day that you find one that has been finished to such a high level as this one. This truck will surely be a stand-out at any car show or cruise-in, and it's just an incredible pleasure to drive!
