Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this icon of 1960's American sports cars – a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible! This beauty comes to us today dressed in a respray of its original color - Rally Red – and wearing a very nice white convertible top, just the way it came from the St. Louis factory back in June of 65. The paint is good driver quality with a nice shine, but some small touch-ups and imperfections can be found on closer inspection. Up front, you'll find that the pop-up headlights work just as they should, the front bumper has a mirror-like shine, and the cross-flags badge looks like new. The front valence grates, wiper arms and window surrounds all gleam brilliantly in the light. Bright touches continue around the sides with rocker moldings, door handles, fender badges, and drivers side mirror. The fenders feature a trio of working vertical exhaust vents that became a hallmark of the C2 Corvette look. Window glass is in very good condition and the side windows have newer dew wipes and felts. While the white soft top looks fabulous, this Corvette also comes with a red hardtop (with stand) should you desire a different look. In the rear of the car, great looks continue with a bumper that's just as nice as the one up front, quad tail lights with bright rings, a cross-flags gas fill cover in excellent condition, and chrome exhaust tips poking out through holes in the lower valence. Underneath is a spare kit, but no spare tire is present. This Corvette has a great stance as it sits atop alloy spinner rims with knock-offs all wrapped in a newer set of Goodyear Regatta 2 tires.
Under the hood is a very clean gloss black engine bay with many chrome touches to add some pop. At the heart is a 327ci V8 counter-exchange (CE) block (1962-1968) mated to a Muncie 4-speed transmission. The block is topped off with finned aluminum valve covers, an Edelbrock Performer intake, 4-barrel carburetor, and a chrome Chevrolet air cleaner. Exhaust flows through Sanderson manifolds and newer pipes to the rear with a heavenly rumble. Keeping things extra cool is an aluminum radiator with electric puller fan. A chrome alternator and ignition shield add some extra bling to the package. You'll also notice that this C2 is equipped with power steering and it has a dual reservoir for the 4-wheel disc brakes.
Open the door and you're greeted by a very nice red interior with flawless red vinyl bucket seats, just as originally ordered. The door panels are in very good condition, as are the handles and window cranks. Between the seats is a red aftermarket armrest/storage box/cup-holder combo and a steel ball shifter with finger-lifts for the 4-speed transmission. The bright shifter cover plate is in excellent condition and it has a shift pattern display, a cross-flags badge, and a tiny ashtray. Another aftermarket cup-holder has been affixed to the passenger side of the cover plate. Directly ahead of the driver is a thin teakwood steering wheel with working horn attached to a fixed column. A red dashpad in good condition sits above a black gauge bezel that's reminiscent of an airplane cockpit. The factory gauges all work as they should, though the tachometer is a little on the “bouncy” side. The wipers work just as they should and so do the heater/fan controls and the clock. The factory radio has been replaced with a modern “retro-style” AM/FM/Cassette version that sounds great as it plays your favorite cruisin music through the center dash speaker. Ahead of the passenger is a semi-circular glovebox that provides a little extra storage. Speaking of storage, behind the seats is a storage area that contains a car cover, the hardtop hardware, and a mallet for the knock-offs. This stunning interior is made all the nicer with new, high-quality red hook and loop carpet.
If you're on the hunt for a cool C2 Corvette that's ready to hit the road today and not break the bank, you're definitely going to want to take a close look at this one. Great looks, killer color combo, both tops, perfect sound, working amenities, and excellent drivability all combine to make this 65 one awesome ride! Give us a call today and be the lucky one who gets to call this car their own!
